Edna M. Robinson, 88 died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born August 15, 1928 in Spearville, Kansas the daughter of Frederick Louis & Pearl Blanche (Ryker) Kregar.
Edna moved with her family to the Cheyenne Wells, Colorado area when she was a child. She attended Cheyenne Wells schools and graduated from high school in 1946. On December 23, 1945 she married Ray A. Robinson in Cheynne Wells, Colorado. After their marriage, Edna and Ray worked for the Rooney Family for 32 years on a farm and ranch south of Arapahoe, Colorado. Edna would cook and do laundry for many of the ranch hands while raising her own family at the same time. They later moved to a ranch north of Deerfield, Kansas in 1982 and again worked for the Rooney family for 20 years. After their retirement in the mid 1990’s, Edna and Ray moved to their home south of Lakin. Edna enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, cooking, and raising chickens. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lakin, the Lutheran Women’s Fellowship, she taught Sunday School Class and Confirmation Classes, was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, various EHU’s, and served as a 4-H leader.
Survivors include two sons Kenneth Robinson of Decatur, Arkansas and Leonard & wife Kaylene Robinson of Bulington, Colorado; a daughter Sandra & husband Bret Hendrix of Lakin, Kansas; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Edna is preceded in death by her husband Ray who died on September 27, 2007. She is also preceded in death by 2 sons Ronald Robinson and Marvin Robinson; a daughter Linda Hoffman; her parents; 4 brothers Vernon Kregar, Harold Kregar, Lester Kregar, and Alvin Kregar; and 3 sisters Ethel Gourley, Hazel Welton, and Ruth Roitz.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakin with Pastor Patrick Gumz officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. The family request memorials given to Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
