Arsonist arrested after Dusty Trail Inn fire investigation

Garden City, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – On May 6, 2022, at around 5:35 P.M., Officers of the Garden City Police Department, Garden City Fire Department, and Finney County EMS were dispatched to a structure fire at 2808 N. Taylor Plaza (Dusty Trail Inn).

Upon arrival, first responders observed large flames coming from the second floor on the west side of the building. Firefighters extinguished the fire, and there were no injuries. It was determined that the cause of the fire was arson.

During the initial investigation, Officers located and arrested Enrique Ismael Sanchez (25), transient, for his alleged involvement in causing the fire. Through further investigation, it was revealed that Sanchez also allegedly caused the previous fire at the Dusty Trail Inn on April 26, 2022.

Sanchez was lodged in the Finney County Jail on charges of Arson (x2) and Burglary (x2).
