Douglas James Smith, 70, died October 12, 2015 at Enid, Oklahoma. He was born on October 10, 1945 at Boone, Iowa the son of James and Florence (Risinger) Smith. He grew up in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School. 

Doug served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam Conflict for four years. On July 6, 1974 he married Charlen “Cha Ree” Wycoff in Dodge City. Doug worked at the First United Methodist Church in Dodge City for many years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling. 

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, St. Bernard Lodge #222 AF & AM and Howard Gotschall Post # 1714, V.F.W. all of Dodge City and was also a clown for the Shriners. 

Doug is survived by a daughter Klaressa “KaCee” Smith and son-in-law Chris Richards, Dodge City; a sister-in-law, Christy (Don) Hornung, Dodge City; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Charlen on August 23, 2003. 

Funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Dodge City on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jerre Nolte presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City with military graveside rites by Howard Gotschall Post # 1714, V.F.W. and KSARNG Military Honors. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from Noon to 8:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
