Dorothy E. Oppliger, age 93, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin. She was born February 19, 1921 at Lexington, Oklahoma the daughter of Joseph Maxwell & Ina (Marsee) Eckl. Dorothy married Eric Ray Oppliger on January 3, 1943 at Wichita. He died on June 7, 1983.

Dorothy graduated from Ness City High School in 1939. She moved to Garden City in 1966 and worked for Dr. Goodwin for 15 years and later for Garden Optical. She enjoyed embroidery, reading, traveling, gardening & cooking and entertaining in her home. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City, 20th Century Book Club, Sunflower EHU, and Longtime member of Order Of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband & 1 sister- Francis Stone.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Catherine Raye Webster of Wichita, Ina R. Oppliger of Tacoma, Washington; son, Eric R. Oppliger of Nathrop, Colorado; sister, Betty Bean of Overland Park; 3 grandchildren, Julie Munson of Lakin, Becky Graham of Nathrop, Colorado, Carrie Carmichael of North Andover, Mass.; 4 great-grandchildren, Kendall Graham , Emily Munson, Eric Munson, and Maya Carmichael.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Rev David Bell officiating.

Visitation: 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, 9:00 AM to Service Time Tuesday , at Garnand Funeral Home. 

Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. 

Memorials may be given to the High Plains Retirement Village in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
