Dolene Heckert, age 95, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune, Kansas. Dolene was born August 13, 1920 in Anson, Texas, the daughter of August & Emma ( Fisher ) Buske, Jr. A resident of Greeley County, Kansas since 1945, she was a farm wife and homemaker. 

Dolene worked hard all of her life, first on her parents’ cotton farm in Texas, and then with her husband Elmer on their own farm. She will forever be remembered as an amazing cook. Some of her family’s favorites were her fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy; Chocolate sheet cake with Granny Herkert’s icing; and made from scratch coconut cream and chocolate cream pies, made with Mrs. Rozean’s pie crust recipe. Her grandchildren could always count on finding her crystal candy bowl full of fun-size Twix candy bars and candied orange slices.

Dolene was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas.

On June 25, 1943 she married Elmer Heckert at Anson, Texas. Elmer passed away on August 7, 2015 in Tribune, Kansas.

Dolene’s surviving family includes-

Three daughters-

Joyce & Mike Hageman- Las Cruces, New Mexico

Sue & Stephen Shull- Ogallala, Nebraska

Jo & Steve Lobmeyer- Tribune, Kansas

Seven Grandchildren, Ten Great Grandchildren

Her parents, her husband of 72 years, Elmer, a daughter, Gloria Jean Penner, three sisters and two brothers precede her in death.

Graveside services for Dolene and Elmer will be held at 2:00 pm ( MDT ) Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas with the Reverend Wayne Stephens presiding. Military honors for Elmer will be provided by The United States Army Funeral Detail.
