Dodge Sweeps weekend set
Hutchinson, Kan (weternkansasnews.com)-Through 11 games, Mark James has made last year’s under performing campaign seem like a distant memory.
The first-year Head Coach expected his team to be better. But nearly equaling their win total from last year in the first month of the season couldn’t have been exactly what he envisioned.
Despite shooting just 37 percent from the floor on Friday against Northwest Kansas Tech, James watched his team score 56 second-half points en route to an 87-61 win.
“It wasn’t the prettiest game,” James said afterwards. “But we’ll take it.”
Kelli Tolar led all scorers with 20 points; Keiwanna Patterson chipped in 19.
James team followed Friday’s performance up with an 89-61 thrashing of Iowa Lakes. Tollar scored a game-high 18 points to lead four girls in double figures. Hannah Whitaker notching a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.
Next up: Dodge City is now 10-1 as they head to Trinidad on Tuesday.
