Dodge City man faces nine charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
Dodge City, Kansas(westernkansasnews.com) A Dodge City man is facing nine criminal charges after his arrest on April 11. Octavio Hernandez Jr., 26, faces the following charges:
- Aggravated intimidation of a witness
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Two counts of criminal threat
- Aggravated endangering a child
- Criminal deprivation of property
- Two counts of criminal trespassing
- Criminal discharge of a firearm on a public road
On April 11 Dodge City Police were sent to the area of 6th Ave and Soule St. adjacent to Northwest Elementary School for a suicidal adult male subject armed with a gun sitting in his pickup truck. Prior to officers arriving the subject got out of his truck and into the passenger side of another vehicle. That vehicle was stopped on 14th just north of the HWY 50 bypass by police and the subject was detained without any further incident. There was never a direct intentional threat to the school but we did tell them to lock down and notified the school district when the call first came in.
