Dodge City Law partner with Victory Electric; Coach Ponder re-signs players
Dodge City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Dodge City Law professional indoor football team is pleased to partner with Victory Electric in an effort to continue to help local veterans through Victory Electric Cooperative’s on-going “Vittles for Vets” program. The Vittles for Vets food drive is aimed at stocking the food pantry at Fort Dodge that provides much needed non-perishable items to the soldier’s home.
The Dodge City Law have a goal of delivering 1000 food and personal items to the Fort Dodge Soldiers Home and need the residents of Southwest Kansas’ help. For every person who drops off 10 non-perishable items, the Dodge City Law will issue one free ticket voucher good towards any game during the 2016 season. Suggested food items include: pudding, Jell-O and fruit cups, dry cereal, instant oatmeal, or any type of canned fruit, vegetable or soup, liquid body soap, 3 blade razors, sweatpants L-3XL, dish soap and non alcoholic mouthwash.
Your donated items can be dropped off at the Dodge City Law football office, at United Wireless Arena 4100 West Commanche in Dodge City. In addition to receiving your free Dodge City Law ticket voucher, you will also be entered into Victory Electric’s two drawings during the month of October and December where there will be two $100 bill credits drawn.
Vittles for Vets
Ponder re-signs local players
Head Coach Sean Ponder has signed his first round of players for 2016 starting with re-signing four outstanding local players. Marquise George, Brandon Venson, Cordney Sanders and Jamar Seard. George was 1st team all CIF in 2015 and led the Law’s defense with 59 total tackles while Seard had 55 tackles. Venson and Sanders return after both playing for the law in 2014 and 2015. “Our veteran players will offer a certain level of depth and stability to the roster for new members of the team”, says Coach Ponder. There will be an open tryout on October 17 at 11 am at United Wireless Arena for anyone wanting to take a shot at becoming a professional football player. Also on October 17, following the tryout, the DC Law will be hosting a free youth football camp for ages 5-14 from 1:30-3:30. They will learn foot drills, passing skills, ball handling and more from the coaches and players.
