Dodge City Gets One State Champion and Places 15th as a Team

Wichita, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – The Dodge City Red Demon Wrestling team took four to the State Tournament this past weekend at Hartman Arena in Wichita and end up 15th as team. Garden City won the State Title with 173.5 points, Junction City 2nd with 125.5 and Derby 3rd with 117.5. The Red Demons did get a State Champion with senior Dane Edwards at 138 defeating his rival A.J. Hurtado of Garden City in the championship match 11-1 to earn a major decision. Jaden McRoberts placed 5th at 113, by injury default in the final match, and Clay Weil ended up 4th at 120, as he lost in his final match to Kian Clemens of Manhattan in a sudden victory overtime 5-3 match, Santiago Garcia at 152 lost his first two rounds at the State Tournament.
