Doctor Atha Puts in Building Blocks of Common Core
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) While how much the legislature will spend on education in future years remains in question, there’s another tug o’ war going on in Topeka with whether or not to keep Common Core standards. USD 457 Superintendent Doctor Rick Atha says with so much already invested for developing common core standards, he is moving forward for now.
Three of our local representatives Doll, Jennings and Avey have indicated they support common core. The pressure is on from both sides. The House Education Committee heard testimony two weeks ago. No final decision has been made.
