Garden City Public Schools has started this week to deliver nutritious boxes of food to families that are in need in the community.  The district received a grant for $10,000 from Tyson Fresh Meats that would help support families that are having difficulty during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The district’s Nutrition Services department and Supplemental Programs department are working together to assemble and deliver the food boxes to families.  The district’s Supplemental Programs department identified approximately 200 families that will be helped through the grant.  The district will be distributing 40 assembled boxes of food to families for the next five weeks.

Each of the food boxes contains a variety of nutritious items to help a family.  The items include: apples, applesauce, bananas, carrots, halos, cheese, green beans, potatoes, peanut butter, Spaghettio’s, pinto beans, mac and cheese, and turkey breast.
