Diane Koontz, 72, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. 

She was born July 27, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of George and Mayme (Gentile) Prudom. She moved to Dodge City in 1960 from Vernon, Texas and in 1964, she received her Bachelors Degree from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City. On July 13, 1963, she married Lou Koontz at Vernon, Texas. In 1969 they moved to Phoenix, Arizona and raised their family and returned to Dodge City in December of 1993. She worked as a Certified Medical Aide at the Shepherd’s Center in Cimarron and the Sterling House in Dodge City and most recently was a volunteer with Hospice of the Prairie in Dodge City. 

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Daughters of Isabella and Stitch and Chatter all in Dodge City. 

Survivors include: her husband, Dodge City; a son, Sean Koontz and wife Jenna, Austin, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Julia Koontz and Ryan Koontz and a step-granddaughter, Ally Bradley. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Paul. 

Daughters of Isabella rosary will be 4:00 pm Thursday, February 26, 2015 and vigil service will be 7:00 pm Thursday both at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City, with Fr. Terrance Klein presiding. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. Private family burial will be at a later date in Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
