Derrol Richard Dvorak

Derrol Richard Dvorak, 91, died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.  He was born on April 8, 1926 in Spearville, to Joseph F. and Lydia L. (Parthie) Dvorak. 

On October 8, 1945, he married JaNeva (Pat) Kirmer at St. John’s Catholic Church in Spearville.  She preceded him in death on May 24, 2011.

Derrol was a lifelong dairyman and farmer in Hodgeman County.  He held several board positions including the Offerle Coop and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his children, Karlene Davis of Republic, Missouri, Kathlene Loyd and husband Tom of Olathe, Lydia Watts and husband Ron of San Antonio, Texas, Richard Dvorak and wife Bonnie of Spearville, Roch Dvorak and wife Debbie of Dodge City, JaNelda Fields and husband Steve of San Antonio, Texas, and Nikki Meyer and husband Rich of Wichita; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bob Kirmer of Fort Dodge; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Derrol was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carl Dvorak; and one sister, Esther Slattery.

Vigil Service will be at 7:00 PM Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Offerle.  Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Rev. John Strasser presiding.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hodgeman County.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, St. Joseph Parish in Offerle, or St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
