Dean Gigot, 84 died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at his home in Garden City. He was born March 25, 1931 in Garden City the son of Clarence & Velma (McLinn) Gigot.
A lifetime resident of Finney County, Kansas, Dean attended school in Pierceville where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Army from November 1953 to August 1955. On February 22, 1962, he married Esther Pfeifer in Garden City. Dean later married Betty Jo Bradford Geiger in Colorado Springs, Colorado on December 24, 1995. A lifetime farmer and rancher, Dean loved his work on the farm. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the National Cattleman’s Beef Association, the Kansas Livestock Association, the NRA, a Lifetime member of the American Legion, and the Elks Lodge.  
Survivors include his wife Betty Jo Gigot of the home; five children Gina (Rod Stillwell) of Holcomb, Lisa Mason of Holcomb, Ks., Marc (Jackie) of Garden City, Ks., Jacque (Tom Portillo) of Amarillo, Tx., and Darren of Garden City, Ks.; two step-sons Brad (Shawna) Geiger of Highland Ranch, Co. and Lance (Heidi) Geiger of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren Nick Herrmann, Janelle and Tate Mason, Wyatt and Lauren Gigot, William, Jarod, Audrey and Veronica Portillo, Chase Carlin and Garrett Gigot, Ethan and Griffin Geiger, Jacob, Josh and Willow Geiger; three brothers Terry, Mike and Jeff Gigot all of Garden City, Ks.; sisters Marjorie Van Camp of Topeka, Ks., Jennifer Priddy of Garden City, Ks.; and many nieces and nephews. Dean is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Velma Gigot; a brother Jerry Gigot; and a brother-in-law Vic Van Camp.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Garden Terrace Room at Samy’s in Garden City. A private family interment will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. The family requests memorials given to the Garden City Community College Endowment Fund, Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo, or to Bad Boyz Boxing Club all in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
