HAYSVILLE, Kan. — The Dodge City High School boys basketball team saw their season come to an end on Wednesday night in the first round of the Class 6A West Sub-State. Dodge City scored the first point of the game, but that would be their only lead, as the host Colts stampeded over the Demons, 75-46.

The Demons finish the 2018-19 season with an 11-10 record and saw seven seniors play their final game on the hardwood in a Red Demon uniform.

Campus was just too athletic and quick for Dodge City to handle. The Red Demons pulled within nine in the second quarter after down by 18 after a 9-0 run, but that would be the closest the game would get the remainder of the night.

Dodge trailed 40-25 at the halftime break, but once again the lead would just continue to grow and grow for the Colts. The fourth quarter saw a running clock in place, as Campus led 67-37 after three quarters.

The Colts had four players score in double figures, led by Tyler Kahmann’s 20 points, Shawn Warrior added 17 and Sterling Chapman added 16. Dodge City was led by John Johnson’s 18 points and 10 rebounds, Noah Sowers finished with 15 points and six rebounds in his final Red Demon game.

Dodge City has a lot to be proud of when looking back at this season, as they set numerous school records en route to the 11-win season. It’ll be hard to replace all seven seniors that won’t be back next year, but coach Starnes said the “future of Red Demon basketball is bright.”
