DCCC names Shaddix new women’s golf coach

(Dodge City, KS) – Dodge City Community College has hired its new Head Women’s Golf Coach. Abbi Shaddix is originally from Garden City and was a standout Golfer in High School and College.
 
Despite this being Abbi’s first official coaching experience, she is experienced in teaching the game of golf.
 
Prior to Dodge City Community College, Abbi was an Assistant Golf Professional at Whirlwind Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ. While there, she taught lessons, as well as put on instructional clinics and ran several tournaments.
 
During her College days, Abbi Golfed at the NCAA Division 1 level for all four years. In her senior season at Wichita State University Abbi was also an intern, assisting with recruiting, practice, travel coordination, as well as team apparel.
 
As a competitor, she played at Wichita State University for her final three collegiate seasons after transferring from the University of North Texas. She finished seventh at the Conference USA Championships during her Freshman season at the University of North Texas. In High School, Abbi was a standout performer at Garden City High School. Abbi was a three-time 6A Regional Champion, Kansas State Runner Up in 2013, and tied the state high school record, shooting a 66.
 
“I am ecstatic to get back to my roots in Southwest Kansas and be a part of the Conquistador golf program,” said new Head Women’s Basketball Coach Abbi Shaddix. “Growing up and playing collegiate golf in Kansas, I am more than happy to take on this position. There are many people I want to thank for making this possible. I would like to thank Coach Chris Robinson, Athletic Director Jacob Ripple, and President Dr. Harold Nolte for the opportunity. I can’t wait to develop future Conquistadors on and off the course.”
