The Dodge City men’s golf team completed its 2014 campaign with a ninth-place finish at the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association Division I National Tournament at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

The Conquistadors carded a 1240 (+88) and finished five strokes ahead of Faulkner State and 10 strokes behind Central Alabama.

“It was a great season for the Conquistadors,” DC3 head coach Chris Robinson said. “We didn’t play well the last round and were five shots of fifth, however, I’m happy with the ninth-place finish. It just goes to show we are one of the elite teams and the kids worked hard on their game.”

Indian Hills won the team championship and shot an 1190 (+38).

Individually, DC3 placed five golfers in the top 70.

Zach Kirby carded a 305 (+17) and tied for 18th and Ryan Hand shot a 313 (+25) and tied for 43rd.

Hugh Campbell carded a 315 (+27) and tied for 49th and Trevor Torgerson shot a 317 (+29) and tied for 54th.

Jack Rickabuagh shot a 320 (+32) and tied for 67th.

“This group has nothing to be ashamed of. We won seven tournaments, were Jayhawk Conference champions and finished ninth at nationals,” added Robinson.

Wallace State’s Cooper Brown and Midland’s David Wicks each carded a 293 (+5) and tied for first.
