Damage to Garden City apartment building after accident

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Thursday March 22, at 3:01 p.m. Officers of the Garden City Police were dispatched to the 2900 block of Lost River Dr. for a reported injury accident involving a vehicle that had struck an apartment complex.

Upon arrival officers located a black 2005 Ford Explorer lodged into the east wall of building 600 at the 2914 Fleming apartment complex. One person from the apartment complex was evacuated from the building by Garden City Fire/Rescue uninjured.

The investigation revealed that Natacha Pierre (32) 2914 Fleming was driving her vehicle into the east parking lot of 2914 Fleming, she completed a left-hand turn in the parking lot and mistook the gas for the brake causing her to accelerate and drive into the east wall of building 600. The two apartments that were struck had severe structural damage and were deemed uninhabitable.

There were no injuries in this incident. The damage to the building is estimated to be over $25,000.

Pierre was cited and released on scene for No Proof of Insurance.
