Consuelo “Connie” Badillo, age 82, of Johnson, Kansas, died Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson, Kansas. She was born June 8, 1937, in Charcas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, the daughter of Eulogio and Maria Jesus (Medina) Ruiz.
Connie grew up in Mexico and taught Catechism as a young lady. She moved to the United States after her marriage to Natividad Badillo. They were married on February 12, 1958, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. They moved to Big Bow, Kansas, in 1969, Manter in 1976, and settled in Johnson in 2012. Connie cleaned houses, and then began a long career as a custodian at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit, Stanton County Hospital, Johnson Grade School, Stanton County High School and retired from Stanton County Senior Center. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson, where she helped with the annual Mexican Dinner for many years. Connie was a very good cook, and enjoyed doing ceramics at the Senior Center, sewing and crocheting. She took pride in helping with the Manter UMW Quilt.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Nicholas and husband John of Johnson, Kansas; brothers Francisco Ruiz and Antonio Ruiz both of San Luis Potosí, Mexico; and sisters, Carmen Hernandez, and Felicidad Garcia both of San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Eulogio and Maria Jesus Ruiz; husband, Natividad Badillo; and infant son, Gregorio Badillo.
Vigil service will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, and funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, both at the St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson, Kansas, with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
