Colorado man taken into custody after multi-county chase

Scott City, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – Sunday morning at approximately 9:33 a.m. the Scott City Police Department was notified a chase was about to enter northern Scott County on U.S. 83 Highway.

The Oakley Police Department and Logan County Sheriff’s Department were in pursuit of a vehicle with speeds exceeding 90 m.p.h.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed and the chase came to a safe stop 1 mile north of Scott City.

Nicholas Piantanida, 24, of Colorado Springs was taken into custody on Oakley Police Department charges and transported to the Scott County Jail.

The Scott City Police Department, Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Oakley Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks, and the Kansas Highway Patrol assisted.
