Colleges Look For More Ways to Join Together in Helping Students

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The legislature is expected to talk a lot about education this session not only for k-12, but through the community college system.  One priority will be to look at ways colleges can work together.  Garden City Community College President Doctor Herbert Swender is looking forward to the discussion.

Expansion of online services and improving what is offered will also be explored.  While some colleges get 40 percent of their funding from the state, GCCC local support is so strong that they only get 12 percent of their budget from the legislature putting the college in a strong position.
