Coldwater Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Murder

DODGE CITY – (July 11, 2017) – A Coldwater man was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison for murder.

Frank Domingo Asebedo, 44, was sentenced to 360 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections by District Judge Van Z. Hampton in Ford County District Court. Asebedo pleaded no contest in March to one count of murder in the second degree-reckless. The conviction stemmed from a crime that occurred in October 2015 in connection with the death of Lelyn Betts in Comanche County.

The case was investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation with assistance from Coldwater Police Department, the Protection Police Department, the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office, the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, the Ford County Sheriff’s Office, the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office, the Anthony Police Department and the Dodge City Police Department. Assistant Attorney General Melissa Johnson of Schmidt’s office prosecuted the case against Asebedo.
