Clete Shane Cook, 46, died July 1, 2016 at his home in Montezuma surrounded by his family. He was born on April 5, 1970 in Elkhart, the son of Ernest and Peggy (Frazee) Cook.

Clete grew up in Walsh, Colorado, graduating from Walsh High School in 1988. He went on to attend college at Dodge City Community College and then to Kansas State University. Clete graduated from K-State in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He moved to Montezuma in October of 2001 to take a job at Montezuma State Bank. On August 30, 2003, he married Megan Alexander in Garden City, she survives. Clete most recently worked as a crop insurance producer for Keller Leopold and was also a commodity broker for Paragon Investments.

Clete was a member of Morningside Community Church in Montezuma where he served on the church board. He was serving as an AWANA leader and was a junior high and high school youth leader for many years. He loved children and was very involved in the lives of his own children.

In addition to his wife, Megan, Clete is survived by four children, Kelton, Brendan, Brailey, and Kambry all of the home; his parents, Ernest and Peggy Cook of Cimarron; and three brothers, Dustin Cook of Ellinwood, Brant Cook of Vallejo, California, and Jaron Cook of Onida, South Dakota.

Funeral service will be held at the South Gray High School Gymnasium in Montezuma on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 2:00 P.M .with Pastor Tim Erickson presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from Noon to 8:00 P.M with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Clete Cook Memorial Fund for the Cheers Foundation a Christ centered orphanage in Hyderabad, India in care of the funeral home.
