Clarence Wasson, 83, died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at his home in rural Ford County. 

He was born May 23, 1933 at Dodge City, the son of Albert Don and Neva Ruth (Pottorff) Wasson. A lifetime area resident, he was the Parts Manager at John Deere in Dodge City for 38 years, retiring in May 1992. 

He was a member of the Dodge City Church of Christ, Pairs and Squares, Prairie Schooners 4-H Club, American Quarter Horse Association, Simmental Cattle Association, Senior Friends and Disabled American Veterans. 

He served in the United States Navy from November 1955 to October 1957. 

On May 5, 1955 he married Daisy L. Blankenship at Dodge City. 

Survivors include: his wife, Dodge City; 3 sons, Dean and wife Jacque, Houston, Texas, Todd and wife Nancy, Wichita and Toby and wife Melissa, Dodge City; 2 daughters, Cindy Orebaugh and husband Mark, Dodge City and Sandy Fisher and husband Greg, Galena, Kansas; a brother, Jim Wasson and wife Betty, Dodge City; 2 sisters, Pat Hutchinson and husband Bob, Hutchinson and Corolea Wasson, Golden, Colorado; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Wilbur and a grandson, Taylor Flaherty. 

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Dodge City Church of Christ with Gary Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, with full military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 6:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. 

The family suggests memorials to the church, Hospice of the Prairie or the Dodge City Senior Center all in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
