City of Dodge City Waives Transportation Fees until July 2021

City of Dodge City

DODGE CITY, Kansas—The City of Dodge City will be waiving all passenger fees for Public Transportation services until June 30, 2021. Fees had previously been waived until the end of June 2020 when limited transportation services resumed on May 13, after being halted due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

According to Ernestor De La Rosa, City of Dodge City Assistant City Manager/Legislative Affairs, the decision to waive fees was made possible by funds made available through the State’s Public Transportation program to help local governments and other agencies to match aid under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Regular fees are expected to resume on July 1, 2021.

“The Dodge City Public Transportation program is funded through the Federal Transportation Administration, Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Public Transportation Program and the City of Dodge City,” De La Rosa said. “We are fortunate that the CARES Act provided these funds to help with these operations during these difficult times. KDOT will reimburse the City for 100% of the program’s expenditures until the end of June 2021.”

Dodge City Public Transportation plans to resume full operations on June 29, 2020.  Current operations include on-demand transit and door-to-door services from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday-Friday, and limited to three passengers in one vehicle at a time.

Rides can be scheduled by calling the Public Transit dispatch number at 1-877-323-3626. Passengers are encouraged to continue to use safety masks and physical distance when possible while utilizing these services.
