City of Dodge City Response to Gov. Kelly’s Executive Order #20-16

DODGE CITY, Kansas — With the announcement of a Stay-At-Home order for the State of Kansas by Governor Kelly in Executive Order #20-16, that will go into effect on March 30th at 12:01 am until April 19th, the City of Dodge City is taking additional steps to alter certain operations. This is in an effort to help decrease the spread of the COVID-19 disease. Public Safety, sanitation, and water/wastewater treatment operations will not be changed.
Other departments will see temporary phone number changes, which will be listed at the end of this release, online and email services will remain the same. This is to allow as many employees as possible to work from home and limit interaction with others.
“While we are an essential service and will continue to serve our residents, we are opting to do as much as we can through telework,” said City Manager Cherise Tieben. “We want to comply with the spirit and intent of the Governor’s “stay at home” order as much as possible and do our part in decreasing the spread of the virus.”
Rest assured that no essential City operations will halt during this time, and City staff continues to be available to serve our residents. The new phone lines will be handled during regular business hours, and staff can be reached by email as well. Under the order, Kansans must remain at home unless going to work to perform an essential function; obtaining food, medicine or other household necessities; seeking medical care; caring for children, pets, family members or others; or exercising outside or performing some other essential activity as described in the Governor’s order.
