Cimarron sixth, three area golfers medal at 3A State Golf

Hesston, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Hesston Golf Course was the site of the 2021 Class 3A State Golf Tournament, which featured a two-day tournament for the first time on the boys side. The team race would be dwindled down in half after the first day, as six teams would be eliminated, and the top 18 individuals not on one of the top six teams advanced from Monday to Tuesday’s play.

Cimarron as a team would place sixth overall, shooting a team score of 686 for the two days. Santa Fe Trail won the Class 3A State title, with Cheney coming in second.

Individually, three area golfers made their way into the top 10, as Cimarron’s Jayden Seabolt had a strong second day to vault into sixth place, as his two-day score was 155. He shot a 71 on Tuesday. His teammate Joshua Weishapl was seventh with a round of 155, and Scott City’s Kale Wheeler finished eighth overall with a score of 157.

Colby as a team just missed the cut advancing into play on Tuesday, as did Scott City’s Jaden Lewis and Southwestern Heights’ Kaleb Scripsick.
