Cimarron Jr/Sr High School sexual harassment case update
There has been a new update involving the sexual harassment claims filed by a former student at Cimarron-Ensign USD 102. This fall the former student accused Cimarron Junior/Senior High School and principal Jara Wilson of not following through when reports of sexual harassment were made.
The student reported that she was called a “slut” and touched inappropriately when she denied wanting to date the male student. She also stated that she was harassed on social media platforms, but the school didn’t do anything about it.
Jane Doe, the minor, Mary Doe, her mother have been asked to reach a settlement with Wilson and the Cimarron-Ensign school district after the U.S. District Court met on Friday. The Doe’s will have until Dec. 20 to submit a settlement proposal. Wilson and the Cimarron-Ensign school district will have until Jan. 7, 2019 to come back with a counter-proposal.
The mediation for the claims is set to take place on April 5, 2019 and if the two sides aren’t able to reach a settlement then a jury trial will be conducted on June 1, 2020 to settle the claims.
