Cimarron girls golf regional runner up; three other area girls qualify for state
Colby, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The second postseason event of the year took place on Monday in Colby at Meadow Lake Golf Course, as area schools took part in the Class 3-2-1A Regional Golf meet.
Colby would win the regional with a team score of 371, while Cimarron finished in second with 397 and Goodland was the third and final team to qualify for state with a score of 441.
The top area golfer was Brayclen Lynn of Cimarron, who finished fourth with an 18-hole score of 95. She was one of three Lady Bluejays in the top 10. Scott City’s Paige Prewit was 11th, Syracuse’s Hannah Lampe was 12th, and Gillian Heger finished in a tie for 15th. Those three individuals qualified for state next Monday and Tuesday in Cheney at Cherry Oaks Golf Course. Prewit is the second golfer for the Lady Beaver golf program to qualify for state, since the team was reactivated in 2015, and the first since 2016.
