Chief Master Sergeant to deliver MLK Day speech at GCCC

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Chief Master Sergeant Maurice L. Williams will headline the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration at Garden City Community College on Monday, January 15. CMSgt Williams will deliver his speech at 10:30 am in the main gym of the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex. The public is invited to attend this celebration and there will be no charge for admission to the event.

According to a biography from the Department of the Air Force, Chief Master Sergeant Maurice L. Williams is the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the Kansas National Guard. He serves as the principle advisor to the Adjutant General, on matters of health, welfare, morale, professional development, good order and discipline and the effective employment of the state’s approximately 6500 enlisted members of the Kansas Army and Air National Guard. Prior to his current assignment Chief Williams was the State Command Chief Master Sergeant for the North Carolina Air National Guard.

Chief Williams entered the North Carolina Air National Guard in 1987. He graduated from the Air Transportation Specialist course at Shepard Air Force Base, Texas in January 1988. He expertly served as the Superintendent of the Small Air Terminal, 145th Logistics Readiness Squadron, where he provided expert leadership and management of all air transportation activities within the Small Air Terminal. Throughout his military career, he has deployed in support of Operations IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM where he served on the United States European Command Staff and Air Force Central Command Staff. Chief Williams served as the 145th Airlift Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant, codirector of the ANG Chief Master Sergeants’ Executive Course and currently is the chairman of the ANG Enlisted Field Advisory Council serving 91,000 enlisted airmen. Chief Williams was selected as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader in October 2017.
Come join Garden City Community College on January 15 at 10:30 am in the main gym of the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Once again, admission to the celebration is free and open to the public.
