Charles D. Wessel, age 74, passed away at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. He was born on June 20, 1939 in Thomas County, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Mary Mindrup Wessel. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1969 moving from Oakley, Kansas, he was a Mechanic and Shop Foreman at Wheatbelt Inc. for over 35 years and Henderson’s Inc. both of Scott City, Kansas.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus both of Scott City, Kansas.

On January 5, 1963 he married Katherine L. Durant in Oakley, Kansas. She survives.

  • One Daughter Barbara & Mark Wilbur of Leoti, Kansas
  • One Brother Dave Wessel of Oakley, Kansas
  • Two Sisters Bernadine Wessel of Wichita, Kansas
  • Seven Grandchildren
  • Ten Great Grandchildren
  • James & Amy Wessel of Scott City, Kansas
  • Rita Wessel of Hays, Kansas

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Five Brothers – Ambrose, Frank, Leroy, Tom and Bob, and Two Sisters – Helen and Mary Ann.
