Carol L. “Corky” Slattery

Carol L. “Corky” Slattery, 70, died February 1, 2016 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born on May 14, 1945 at Emporia, the daughter of Alvin and Helen (Eubank) Cramer. 

Corky grew up in Dodge City and was a graduate of Dodge City High School. On June 30, 1964 she married Bill Slattery at Wichita. They lived in Wichita before moving to Dodge City. Corky was Bill’s right hand man on the family farm for many years.  

She was a member of the Saint Cornelius Episcopal Church of Dodge City and V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. 

Corky is survived by her husband, Bill Slattery of Dodge City; two sons, Mark Slattery of Cimarron and Mike Slattery of Gardner; a daughter, Kelly Katz and husband Clifford of Dodge City; six grandchildren, Dustin Slattery, Megan Quint, Erin Akers, Jessica Davis, Andrew Unruh, and Dillon Unruh; five great grandchildren, Carson Akers, Averie Akers, Brynlee Quint, Sawyer Slattery, and August Quint; a brother, Alvin Cramer of Overland Park; and two sisters, Patricia Bay of Wichita and RaeAnn Brown of Lawrence.She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Kimberly Slattery. 

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Katie Hargis presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Friends may sign the guest book at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
