Carmen Herrera, 89, died April 17, 2015 at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City . She was born on June 30, 1925 at Dodge City, KS the daughter of Anselmo and Jobita (Mendoza) Luera. 

She married Casimiro Herrera on July 6, 1946 in Dodge City, he preceded her in death on July 5, 1997. She loved to crochet, make tortilla for the eastside. Mrs. Herrera also enjoyed watching wrestling and spending time with her family. She worked at the Silver Spur Lodge for several years before retiring. 

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City. 

Survivors include two sons Jerome Herrera and Robert Herrera both of Dodge City; three daughters Kathy Mitchell and Patti Claussen both of Garden City and Angelina Herrera of Dodge City. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. 

Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Memorials are suggested to Carmen Herrera Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
