Candice Elaine Heckenlively

Candice Elaine Heckenlively, 60, lost her battle with cancer on October 7, 2016 at her home in Ingalls. She was born on March 12, 1956 at Montezuma, the daughter of Donald and Carlene (Frazier) Wendel. 

Candice grew up on a farm and she attended Ingalls schools; graduating in 1974. In 2000, Candy moved in with her grandmother Myrl Frazier. She was her companion, care giver, and confidant. On June 21, 2007, Candice married Shane Heckenlively. He survives. She was a woman of many talents and held several jobs in many locations. In 2011, she became the Postmaster in Ingalls. Candice had a love for animals, especially dogs and cats. 

She attended Ingalls Federated Church. Candice was baptized and accepted the Lord as her Savior.

In addition to her husband Shane, Candy is survived by her mother, Carlene Wendel of Ingalls; brother, Travis Wendel and wife Dawn of Cimarron; nephew Cody Wendel and niece Lindsay Wendel both of Cimarron; father-in-law, Lyle Heckenlively and special friend, Marlene Dillow of Hildreth, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Ann Heckenlively of Ingalls; brother-in-law, Rawdy Heckenlively and wife Marla of Firestone, Colorado; many other relatives and friends and her faithful companion dog, Mongo. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Wendel; and grandparents, Melvin and Myrl Frazier and Martin and Melva Wendel.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Ingalls Community Church on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska. Friends may sign the book at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Cimarron on Tuesday October 11, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Pheasant Heaven Charities or the Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
