Campus on Lockdown Thursday Night After Armed Robbery; Suspects in Custody

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) A armed robbery at the Mooyah Burgers around 9 Thursday night instigated a lockdown at Garden City Community College for a brief time while police looked for the suspects. All three suspects wanted were either 16 or 17. Police say two suspects entered the restaurant with ski masks on and took an undisclosed amount of money from the store fleeing on foot.

One suspect was arrested without incident at short time later on the 2000 block of East Spruce Street. Two others who are accused in the crime were arrested at a home on the 4100 block of Highway 50. Police report they uncovered evidence both at the Broncbuster football stadium close to where the getaway car was parked and on the suspects at the time of their arrest.

Once all three suspects were in custody police lifted the lockdown giving the all clear to GCCC students on social media. The three boys accused of the crime are currently at the juvenile detention center.
