Biloxi, MS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – The Garden City Community College Football team won their 9th Football Bowl Game out of 20 Bowl appearances in the school’s history on Sunday afternoon in the 2012 Mississippi Bowl, beating the #7 Copiah-Lincoln Wolfpack 31-29 on a 32 yard field goal by freshmen kicker Tyler Peterson as time ran out. It was a battle of two extremely potent passing teams that had produced nearly 2900 yards on the season and again on Sunday, both quarterbacks produced some fantastic plays and big throws throughout the game. Garden City sophomore quarterback Nick Marshall was selected as the Bowl Game MVP and threw for nearly 300 yards plus another 100 yards of rushing that included an electrifying 63 yard touchdown run. Buster running back sophomore Jamal Tyler had 3 touchdown runs of 12, 4 and 36 yards to help lead the Busters to the final score of 31-29. Garden City Head Coach Jeff Tatum comments on the game, his team, coaching staff and the support of the College Adminstration and the community in the post game wrap-up.
