Wichita, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Coming off a 7-4 season and a victory in the Mississippi Bowl, Garden City Community College was picked to finish fourth in the Jayhawk Conference in 2013.

“Last year was one of those years,” first-year Head Coach Matt Miller said. “Obviously we want to build off it; the Mississippi Bowl was huge for us.”

Their run into the postseason was sparked by a prolific offense that finished fifth in the nation in most statistical categories. The man leading the way: 2nd-team All-American quarterback and Auburn signee Nick Marshall.

“It’s tough to lose a guy like (Nick) Marshall,” Miller said. “But we feel we have guys that can compete at that position. We have four freshman on campus that we’re really excited about.”

Busters open the regular season August 24 vs. Independence Community College. You can listen to the game on KBUF 1030 AM and westernkansasnews.com
