Busters dismantle NWK All Stars
Colby, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Garden City wasted little time to get the lead and never looked back on Friday at the Colby Community Building against the Northwest Kansas All-Stars in the Taco Johns/Pizza Hut Classic. The Busters scored the games first eight points and never looked back en route to the 91-47 win.
Garden City (1-0) had runs of eight, and 10 in the first half, as they raced out to a 48-24 halftime lead. The Busters rotated players in and out throughout the game, as 13 of the 14 players played at least 10 minutes in the game, and only two played at least 2o minutes.
In the second half, Garden City scored the first eight points of the half, as they led by as many as 46 in the contest late. The NWKS All-Stars were a team comprised of mostly former Colby Community College basketball players.
Four Busters finished in double figures, led by Diontae Jones with 10 points and 11 rebounds, James McNeal with 13 points, and Jabar Ray and Gage Loy each scored 10 points. Garden City shout 38.5% for the game and won the rebounding battle 72-50.
Carson Konrade led the NWKS All-Stars with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Busters held them to just 18.9% shooting.
Garden City will face KSU-Salina at 2 pm Saturday afternoon in Colby.
