Buster softball splits with Clarendon

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-If you were to compare and contrast games one and two Tuesday afternoon, this is exactly how coach Becky Gundy would describe it:

“We were aggressive in the opener and took it to them,” she said. “In the second game, we just waited for runs to appear.”

The problem in the finale was they didn’t-losing 6-2 to Clarendon after winning the first game 8-2 at Tangeman Sports Complex.

“It’s funny how things change from one game to the next,” Gundy explained afterwards.

Gundy did see the consistency she’s gotten all season from Barb Nigon, who allowed just three hits in a complete-game performance in game one. Alexis Kantor was knocked around for three runs in two innings in game two before giving way to Nigon.

The split drops the Busters to 16-19 overall and 3-7 in the Jayhawk West. They’re currently tied with Pratt for last place.

Next up: vs. Trinidad State, Thursday April 2 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
