Buster softball rolls through Barton

Great Bend, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-It was nearly two weeks in the making, but the Garden City softball team is showing signs of consistency. 

On Wednesday afternoon at Barton, Becky Gundy’s team used their highest scoring output of the year to pound the Lady Cougars 17-3 in five innings. In game two, it was a come-from-behind effort that led Garden City (11-14, 3-3) to a 10-9 victory. 

“We knew we weren’t living up to our own expectations,” sophomore catcher Danielle Aronoff said. “Of offense was in sync today; our defense played well behind it.”

The third straight win is a season best. The pair of losses dropping Barton County to 11-7 and 2-4 in the Jayhawk West. 

Garden City begins a 10-game home stand Tuesday with Frank Phillips. Doubleheader begins at 2 p.m.
