Busters Jamal Tyler Named KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week-Audio
Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – Garden City Community College running back Jamal Tyler has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 2, 2012. The award is voted on by a committee of Jayhawk Conference Sports Information Directors. Tyler had his second big game for the 2nd straight week against Cisco College in the Broncbusters’ home opener on Saturday. He had 20 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns came in the first half. The first was a 32 yard run just over two minutes into the second quarter, then the second was on a 13 yard run. Tyler now has 245 yards rushing on the year which places him second among Jayhawk Conference running backs. The Broncbusters will be back in action this weekend as they take on #14 Hutchinson Community College. It will be the first time since 2006 that two ranked teams have met in Garden City as the GCCC comes into the game ranked #19 in the latest NJCAA National Poll.
