Buster baseball blanks Wesleyan in twin bill

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Not even a postponement could derail Chris Finnegan’s team on Wednesday. Come to think of it, there wasn’t probably a whole lot of anything or anyone that could have stopped them.

Garden City pounded out 21 knocks in two games, and Buster pitching allowed just a single hit in the finale as the brown and gold blanked Kansas Wesleyan’s JV squad 16-0 and 7-0 Wednesday afternoon at Williams Stadium.

Francisco Alvarez and Angel Perez each knocked in two runs in the finale, which saw Garden City (6-1, 0-0) score nine runs in the first inning. They tacked on four more in the second and three in the fourth.

In the opener, it was a four-run third inning that fueled the shutout victory. It all started with a bases-loaded walk to Brennan Cascio. Tyler Mohr followed suit with a sacrifice fly, before Mason Brown scored on a wild pitch.
