La Junta, CO (westernkansasnews.com)-In stark contrast from the 30 runs scored just 24 hours earlier, Chris Finnegan saw a bit of an adjustment from his team on Wednesday.

Ted Ramirez, Patrick Mixon and Mason Brown each collected two hits apiece, while Tanner Karpinski struck out five and allowed only six hits in seven innings as Garden City shutout Otero 4-0.

“Tanner going deep was pretty big for us,” Head Coach Chris Finnegan said.

Karpinski pitched with the lead right from the start with Jake Tyrakoski slapping an RBI single and Cooper Bowermaster scoring on an error in the first.

Brennan Cascio’s two-run single in the third closed out the scoring as Kerpinski and the bullpen did the rest. Stephen Pagendarm tossed one inning of scoreless relief before Marcus McKinney slammed the door in the ninth.

With the win, Garden City improves to 14-5 on the season.
