Buffs soccer finally finds net in 2-1 victory over Liberal
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-For 96 minutes on Monday night, Garden City’s offense seemed more like a sputtering engine.
24 hours later, the Buffaloes did just enough on that side of the ball to edge out a 2-1 victory over Liberal.
“We were tired,” Head Coach Joaquin Padilla said afterwards. “But I’m proud of how they responded.”
Amber Miller got Garden City on the board first with a goal in the 36th minute.
Then the stalemate.
The Buffaloes did not score again until Emmeline Gomez found the back of the net with four minutes remaining.
Liberal scored a meaningless goal with 12 seconds left to make the final margin closer than it actually was.
The win improved the Buffaloes to 8-5-1 overall and 4-2 in the conference. They host Hays Friday at 3 p.m. in a makeup game.
