Buffaloes sweep Dumas
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Both Garden City High School basketball teams picked up wins over Dumas in the second night of the Clarion Inn Rounball Classic.
The Lady Buffaloes picked up their second win in a row as they rolled Dumas 50-29. Garden City(2-3) was led for the second night in a row by senior Josie Calzonetti with 22 points. Three players did all the scoring for the lady buffaloes as Beth Guymon scored a season high 19 points and Felicity Rodriguez scored 10 points.
Garden City led 21-19 at the half then used a big second half to cruise past Dumas(5-3). The Lady Buffaloes outscored Dumas in the second half 29-10. Garden City has won seven of their last eight games in the Roundball Classic.
The Garden City boys bounced back from Thursday nights loss to cruise to a 53-23 win over Dumas. The Buffaloes jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Garden City(3-2) was led by juniors Jarrod Springston with 10 points and Tye Davis with 9 points. Carlos Acosta had 8 points and Jayden Crook had 7 points. The victory over Dumas(1-10) ended a five game losing streak for the Buffaloes in the Roundball Classic.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow night at home. The lady buffaloes will host Scott City at 4:15 p.m. The boys will play Scott City at 7:45 p.m. Pregame coverage will begin at 4 p.m. on ESPN Radio 99.9 and westernkansasnews.com
