Buffaloes finish 2nd to Dominating Red Demons in WAC Golf Tournament
The Garden City Buffalo Golf team played pretty well in their 4th Western Athletic Conference Tournament of the season on Monday in Great Bend, but finished 2nd to a dominating Dodge City team that continues to cruise in 2012. For the Buffaloes four players shot 80 and below to finish in the top 10, as senior Nick Mann fired the top score for the Buffs with a 6 over 77 to place 5th, Brier Livermore also shot a 77 and placed 6th, George Kelly ended up with a 78 for 9th and senior Braden Taylor placed 10th with an 80. Garden City shot 315 as a team, 15 strokes behind rival Dodge City with 300, Great Bend was 3rd with 326. The Red Demons have won all four WAC Tournament they this season and are looking to become the first team to win all five Conference Tournaments on the year. Dodge City was led by junior Zach Kirby firing a 1-under 70 taking the top medalist honors, followed by Brad Hutton shooting a 74 and Brayden Winans placed 3rd with a 76. The Red Demons took the top three spots and had five in the top 10 to secure the dominating victory, with one more meet to go in Conference action at Liberal next Tuesday. Next for the Buffaloes is the Goddard Tournament on Thursday May 3rd and then the final Conference match-up next Tuesday. The WAC Championship is already decided without next weeks final at Liberal, as Dodge City reigns as the Conference Champions and Garden City is runner-up. The Buffaloes will host the 6A State Tournament on Monday May 21st at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City.
