Buffaloes Close Their Season With Football Award Banquet-Audio
Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – With more than 200 family, friends, classmates, teammates, Coaches and Administration on hand, the Garden City High School Football team closed out their 2012 season with their team Award Banquet at Samy’s Spirits and Steakhouse. Head Coach for the Buffaloes Brian Hill in his 3rd season recognized 10 players on this team for being selected All-Western Athletic Conference selections, that included seniors Mitch Moore, Ben Blood and Taylor Foley on the first team All-WAC offense.
Two players were chosen All-WAC Defense including seniors Brady Bean and Andres Rivas along with five honorable mention selections that includes three juniors Hunter Delgado, Greyson and Dustin Tempel, plus two seniors Logan Dechant and Denton Keller. Special team awards included the Chad Dew Spirit Award that exemplifies the team spirit that was named after a young man (Chad Dew) that emulated true spirit even in adversity. The 2012 Chad Dew Award went to Kieran Henderson, this award is selected by the coaching staff.
The Gold Helmet Award is voted on by the team and is based on being a true team leader, toughness, willingness to put everything on the line and being a positive example on and off the field. The 2012 Gold Helmet Award was presented to senior Brady Bean. Brady talked with us about his four years at GCHS, the team, playing for his dad and Coach Hill.

The 2012 Buffaloes concluded their season at 5-4 and did not advance to the play-offs. They also gave the infamous “Hatchet” back to Dodge City, after losing the “Hatchet Game” 24-20 to the Red Demons, but did finish in a three way tie for runner-up in the WAC.
