Buffalo volleyball splits season opening matches

Salina, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-After winning 27 matches last season, Garden City High School volleyball Coach Abby Piha knew her team would be dealing with another year of lofty expectations. 

And as their first two matches showed, it’s still a work in progress. 

The Buffaloes split their season opening matches on Tuesday, losing to Newton 21-16 and 25-21 before beating Salina Central 25-11 and 25-16. 

Kyra Bellows led the Buffaloes with nine kills against the Mustangs. 

Garden City returns home Thursday vs. Great Bend and Liberal.
