Buffalo softball sweeps Great Bend
Garden City, KS-After four straight losses, Garden City has definitely righted the ship.
The Bufflaoes put themselves in a position to win the Western Athletic Conference with a pair of victories over Great Bend 13-1 and 10-4 on Thursday afternoon at Tangeman Sports Complex.
“We are in a good position now,” senior Abbie Dart said after the games. “Great Bend always pushes us.”
In the first game, the Buffaloes used a 12-run fourth inning fueled by back-to-back home runs by Laura Famer and Ryleigh Whitehurst. In the second game, it was also the fourth that jump started Garden City’s offense. Dart smashed a two-run homer, Farmer doubled home two and Kaci Finch ripped a two-run triple to erase a one-run deficit.
Dart was superb in the circle again, striking out 11 while improving to 5-2. Her younger sister Hailey picked up the victory in game two, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and fanning 10.
Garden City improved to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in the WAC.
