Wichita-(westernkansasnews.com)  The Garden City and Dodge City boys Track Teams produced some quality performances at the Kansas State High School Activities Association State Track and Field meet last weekend at Cessna Stadium on the campus of  Wichita State University.  For the Garden City Buffaloes it came down to a couple of great performances by junior Jonathon Duvall in both hurdle events, as he collected double gold.  Duvall won the 110 meter highs with a personal best time of 14.51 on Saturday and then backed that up with another gold performance in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of  39.05.  It was just a year ago that Duvall left the Cessna Stadium Track without getting the chance to perform because of an injury to his hip and did not qualify for the finals in 2011, now one year later it was total elation for him and his mother who made a 12 hour drive from New Braunfels, Texas just to watch her son compete and she was not disappointed.  The wins by Duvall gave the Buffaloes 20 of their 26 points in the state meet and a 12th place finish.  Garden City received their other 6 points from sophomore Tristan Nanniga with a 6th place finish in the High Jump, one point from junior Brett Cady with 7th in the Pole Vault and 2 points from sophomore Dustin Tempel with a 5th place finish in the Long Jump.  For the Dodge City Red Demon boys it was gold for two different athletes at the State Meet, with Vincente Estrella winning the 800 meters and Oscar Carmona placing 6th and a 4th in the 1600.  Senior Bryce Sonday blew away the field in the Discuss with a personal best throw of 170 feet 10 inches for the gold medal and then a 6th place finish in the Shot Put and Marcos Guterriez placed 7th to round out the point total of 29 points and a 9th place team finish for the Red Demons.  The Garden City Lady Buffs had the most girls from the two 6A Southwest Kansas teams to qualify, but produced the fewest points with four and a 24th place finish, after having some extremely high expectations but had trouble performing to their expectations.  The Lady Buffs received 3 points from sophomore Kayla Doll in the open 800 meters with a 5th place and personal best time of 2:21.41 and then Doll along with her sister Katy Doll, sophomore Alex Miller and Neysa Harmon received one point from a 7th place finish in the 4×800 relay on Saturday.  The Dodge City girls placed 19th as team, collecting 8 points from Summer Wilson with a 2nd place finish in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.25.  Both schools will have several clinics and camps over the summer as they prepare for all of the sports seasons in 2012-2013.
